Parents and Students,

We have many home sporting events this week. Come out and support the Marauders! You can find the athletic schedule HERE.

Students will also have the opportunity to sign up for a wide range of clubs this week during Club Rush Week. Check out the information below.

STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES

Club Rush Week

Research shows that students participating in athletics, co-curricular, or extracurricular activities do better in school. We want all students to participate in an activity outside the classroom. During the week of August 26, students can join a wide range of clubs during the lunch periods.

FOOD SERVICE INPUT

MVCSC is interested in gauging student and parent ideas and interest in the menus via a Google Survey. Please use the QR code or this link to access the survey here. Your help is appreciated!

ACTIVE SHOOTER DRILL NOTIFICATION

The legislature mandates that schools conduct one active shooter drill per semester. We want to inform you in advance that our school will be conducting this practice drill within the next two weeks. Please note that this is only a drill, and there is no emergency situation.

This drill helps Mt. Vernon staff assess and improve our emergency operations plan and response skills.

Due to the confidential nature of our emergency plans, we cannot provide specific details about the date and time of the drill. If you have any concerns, please contact your principal or assistant principal.

COUNSELING CORNER

All Students

If you would like to meet with your counselor, please remember to fill out the REQUEST TO SEE COUNSELOR FORM. Counselors will call students down within 2 school days.
- Did you know that we have a “Care Closet”? Any student needing basic care items (soap, toothpaste/brushes, deodorant, school supplies, etc) can check the box on the form, and your counselor will call you down so you can look through the items.

Seniors

Remember to check the SCHOLARSHIP PAGE frequently! We are constantly adding new scholarships we learn about! It is quiet right now, but as the year progresses, more will be added!
Are you interested in attending IU Bloomington next fall? Please see Mrs. Grimm's email (sent 8/19) titled "Scholarship opportunity—IU Wells Scholarship Program." Multiple emails will be sent as reminders until the deadline on September 3rd.
Beginning in late August/early September, counselors will meet with each senior individually for their senior meeting. This is a formal meeting to discuss their credits, post-secondary plans, and the next steps they need to take.

Juniors & Seniors

College Rep visits are starting soon! Please be on the lookout for sign-up info from Ms. Roach. You can see a list of upcoming visits HERE. We are frequently adding more, so make sure to check back often!
- Beginning in the 24-25 school year, all juniors and seniors must meet with a college or business as part of a Career Discovery Meeting. Meeting with a College Rep will check that box off for you!
