Mt. Vernon High School (MVHS) has had numerous accomplishments and awards that showcase a few of many successes, both academically and through extra-curricular activities.  Here are just a few of the most recent acknowledgments:

 

• Project Lead the Way (PLTW) School with a STEM focus

• State-of-the-art television studio and digital design courses  

• Graduation rate was 97.5% in 2023-2024

• In 2024, the percentage of class earning academic or technical honors diplomas was 42% 

• FAFSA completion – 15% higher than the state average in 2024

• 65.64% of total AP students achieved a 3 or higher on at least one AP exam - 2024 

• Offers 8 Advanced Placement (AP) courses  

• Offers 3 Advanced College Project (ACP) courses  

• Band - Earned ISSMA All-Music Award 2024-2025, Marching Band ISSMA Semi-State Participant              

2024-2025, Indoor Percussion earned 7th Place in the Concert A division at State Finals

• Winter Guard Earned IHSCGA Class A State Champion Wishmeyer Division 2023-2024

• ISHDTA State Pom Champions for dance - 2024, 2023, 2022 

•  19 IHSAA varsity sports offered, as well as cheerleading and dance

• Nine academic competitions, including fine arts, math, science  

• Over 60 (Non-Athletic) clubs/organizations, including the National Honor Society, National Art Honor       

Society, FFA, and FACS  

• Named a U.S. News Best High School in 2025, 2024, and 2023

• AP Honor Roll Bronze Recognition 2023-2024

• Offer Indiana College Core

• 17 Career Pathway Opportunities

• Opening in 2026, the Hancock County Career Center (HC3) will serve as a central hub for over 11 CTE 

programs, offering industry-standard certifications, dual credit opportunities, and real-world experiences 

through partnerships with local businesses and industries. 

• Offer 36 dual-credit courses

• MVHS Athletics has accumulated 133 sectional championships, 37 regional titles, eight semi-state titles, 

three state titles, 92 HHC titles, nine boys All-Sports Titles, and seven All-Sports Titles

• 95.3% of students completed a graduation pathway in 2023
