Throughout the year the MVHS Counseling Center receives notification for local and national scholarships in addition to specific scholarships for colleges/universities. Please visit this page regularly for updated scholarship postings. For specific information or questions, please contact your guidance counselor.  

 

Community Foundation of Hancock County Scholarships

CFHC is a nonprofit organization that words with community partners to build a future for Hancock County, Indiana.  More than $500,000 will be awarded in scholarships in 2024!

USI Scholarships

If you are considering attending the University of Southern Indiana, these scholarships are open for application.  You do not have to commit to the University before applying for these scholarships.

Harolyn Torain Multicultural Leadership Scholarship
Application Deadline:December 8, 2023
Amount: $5,000 per academic year for four years
Description: Awarded to students who demonstrate academic achievement and leadership in diverse organizations, environments and leadership capacity for civic engagement and within the workplace.

USI Foundation Scholarships
Application Deadline: January 31, 2024
Amount:
 $500-$2,000
Description: Funded through the generosity of private donors. There are approximately 100 USI Foundation scholarships reserved for new, incoming freshmen. Students' applications match them with any scholarships for which they meet the criteria set forth by the donor. Students access the application through their myUSI account that is created once they are admitted to USI.

McCordsville Police Department Scholarship

One $1,000 scholarship and two $500 scholarships will be awarded to Hancock County, Vernon Township residents pursuing careers connected to the criminal justice system.

2024 NineStar Scholarship

The NineStar Scholarship awards $2,000.00 to 15 different students graduating in 2024.  To be eligible for this  scholarship as of February 1, 2024 the student's principal residence must be with said student's parent or legal guardian who is a member of NineStar Connect or a customer of NineStar Communications in good standing.

2024 TUBC High School Scholarship

Tricoci University's Annual High School Scholarship application is now open for submissions.  They award one $3500 scholarship per Tricoci University campus and there are 15 campuses across Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin.

Ron Brown Scholarship

The Ron Brown Scholarship awards 45 to 50 four-year scholarships to the most talented and economically-challenged high school seniors who demonstrate a keen interest in public service, community engagement, business entrepreneurship and global citizenship.  Applicants for the Ron Brown Scholarship must be Black/African American, US citizens or permanent residents and a current high school senior at the time of their application. 

The deadline to apply is December 1, 2023.

Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship

JRF Scholars receive grants of up to $35,000 over four years to supplement the financial aid they receive from their colleges or universities. In addition, Scholars receive extensive support services, including career guidance and internship placement, and attend JRF’s annual multi-day "Mentoring and Leadership Conference" in New York City and other regional events throughout the year.

Big Future Scholarship

No essay, no minimum GPA or test score, no citizenship requirements. Just follow the steps for chances to win! The more steps you complete and earlier you start, the more chances you have to win. If you win, your scholarship can be used at any two- or four-year college. If you don’t win, your entry rolls over for the next month.

How to Qualify-

Earn entries in monthly drawings for $500 and $40,000 scholarships by completing steps on BigFuture. Log in to your account, complete steps on your dashboard, and earn entries to win. One step completed = one entry in each monthly scholarship drawing. There are scholarship drawings starting January of your sophomore year until February of your senior year.

INACAC Scholarship

The Indiana Association for College Admission Counseling (INACAC) Scholarship is open to high school seniors that attend an Indiana high school and are planning to enter an Indiana college or university in Fall 2024.  Applications are due January 8, 2024.

Scholarships will range from $500-$1,000 and will be awarded for the students' Freshman Year (non-renewable).

The Hagan Scholarship

The Hagan Scholarship provides up to $7,500 each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters, providing recipients with the opportunity to graduate from college debt-free.

Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship

The Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship provides high-achieving high school and college students interested in pursuing a career in education the opportunity to earn a renewable scholarship of up to $10,000 each year for four academic years. In exchange, students agree to teach for five years at an eligible Indiana school or repay the corresponding, prorated amount of the scholarship.

The 2024-2025 application is available in ScholarTrack beginning November 2023 until January 31, 2024.

 


Jack and Bev Falkenberg Memorial Scholarship

The Falkenbergs were huge supporters of Mt. Vernon students for nearly 48 years.  Their sons and daughter set up a scholarship in memory of Jack and Bev in 2022.  A winner will be awarded a one time $1000 scholarship.

To qualify for this scholarship you must have attended Mt. Vernon Middle School for 7th and 8th grade.  You also must have done one of these three things:

1.Participated in the MVMS Talent Show in 7th and 8th grade

2. Have a parent who is an active member or veteran of the US military

3.  Have a parent who is currently a teacher at a Mt. Vernon school (K-12)

Mental Health Scholarship for Women

The Mental Health Scholarship for Women is a quarterly recurring scholarship open to all student women who prioritize their mental health while attending school.  The next deadline to apply is February 1, 2024 and winners will be announced on February 29, 2024.

First-Gen Futures Scholarship

The Top Nutrition Coaching First-Gen Futures Scholarship is a quarterly recurring scholarship open to all first-generation students whose parents did not receive a four-year bachelor's degree.  The next deadline to apply is December 1, 2023 and winners will be announced on December 31, 2023.

Anderson University Visit Scholarship

The Anderson University Visit Scholarship rewards students a total of $4,000 for taking an official on-campus visit to campus. Some things in life just have to be experienced. For that simple reason, our award-winning programs take a real-life, explorative approach — and it’s also why you should schedule a visit. Come see for yourself what community, academic excellence, and outside-the-box learning opportunities are all about at Anderson University.

Award: This stackable scholarship is renewable over four years in the amount of $1000 per year for a total of $4000 for the four years, and is available to traditional, first-year undergraduate and transfer students, including those who do not submit the FAFSA, and those who do not live on campus. The scholarship is available for only one visit and cannot be combined with ensuing visits.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a senior in high school and attend an individual visit with an admissions counselor at Anderson University no later than December 31.
  • Must enroll as a full-time student at Anderson University

Louie's Tux Shop

Louie's Tux Shop will be sponsoring their 11th annual statewide Model Search this fall.  They bring together 20 students and at the completion of the shoot, two students will receive a $1,000.00 college scholarship.  All photo shoot participants will be featured in their prom promotions in the spring.

American Legion Scholarships and Financial Aid Information  

 College can be affordable. Sometimes it just takes a little bit of help. It will only take a few minutes to understand the American Legion Scholarships available to you. Life Lessons Scholarship Program 

For students who have lost a parent - Recognizing the character and perseverance that so many young people show in the face of such adversity, Life Happens sponsors the annual Life Lessons Scholarship Program for college students and college-bound high school seniors.
