The Special Education Department of Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation is dedicated to ensuring that all students with disabilities receive a high-quality education in the least restrictive environment. Our mission is to foster an inclusive, supportive, and empowering learning community where every student is equipped to reach their full potential.
Students are determined eligible for special education services by the case conference committee following a multi-disciplinary educational evaluation. Parents/guardians and school personnel are all integral members of the case conference committee. Mt. Vernon provides a continuum of services to meet the individual educational needs of our students in the least restrictive environment. Dyslexia Screening
The table below provides an overview of the district's dyslexia screening results. It includes the total number of students who were screened as part of our early identification process, along with the number of students who were identified as having characteristics of dyslexia. These results reflect our commitment to early intervention and support for all learners.
