We had a fantastic first full week at MVHS, and we appreciate the efforts of parents, students, and staff that helped us have a smooth start to the year!

STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES

Club Rush Week

Research shows that students participating in athletics, co-curricular, or extracurricular activities do better in school. We want all students to participate in an activity outside the classroom. During the week of August 26, students can join a wide range of clubs during the lunch periods.

Here are a few of the upcoming club opportunities:

MVCSC TECHNOLOGY INFO

We're excited to remind you about the valuable partnership between Mt. Vernon Schools and Qustodio! This collaboration provides insights into your child's online activities and allows you to manage certain aspects of their school-issued devices at home.

ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL

We appreciate your patience as we've implemented new arrival and dismissal procedures. We've made changes to improve traffic flow across the campus and for student and driver safety. We appreciate all of the feedback as we continue to fine-tune our processes!

Reminders:
Morning Drop-Off and Afternoon Pick-Up: Once in the drop-off/pick-up lot, pull forward until signaled to stop. Once students enter/exit the lot, no vehicle movement should occur. This is for student and driver safety.

Student Drivers - Student drivers should enter the student lot off State Road 234. You must have a 24-25 MVHS Parking Tag displayed in your vehicle by August 23. After the 23rd, you could receive a citation and lose driving privileges. Please use caution in the student lot and on your way to and from school. Failure to do so will result in loss of driving privileges.

Bus Drop Off - Buses drop off in the north lot. Siblings of high school students needing to go to the middle school can take bus 20. Bus 20 will leave the high school around 8:15. If a middle school student arrives later than 8:15, an alternate bus will transport them to the middle school.

COUNSELING CORNER

All Students

If you want to meet with your counselor, please remember to complete the REQUEST TO SEE COUNSELOR FORM. Counselors will call students down within two school days.
- Did you know that we have a "Care Closet"? Any student needing basic care items (soap, toothpaste/brushes, deodorant, etc) can check the box on the form, and your counselor will call you down so you can look through the items.

Seniors

Remember to check the SCHOLARSHIP PAGE frequently! We are constantly adding new scholarships we learn about! It is quiet right now, but as the year progresses, more will be added!
Beginning in late August/early September, counselors will meet with each senior individually for their senior meeting. This is a formal meeting to discuss their credits, post-secondary plans, and the next steps they need to take.

Juniors & Seniors

College Rep visits are starting soon! Please be on the lookout for sign-up info from Ms. Roach. You can see a list of upcoming visits HERE. We are frequently adding more, so make sure to check back often!
- Beginning in the 24-25 school year, all juniors and seniors must meet with a college or business during a Career Discovery Meeting. Meeting with a College Rep will check that box off for you!
