Throughout the year the MVHS Counseling Center receives notification for local and national scholarships in addition to specific scholarships for colleges/universities.
Please visit this page regularly for updated scholarship postings. For specific information or questions, please contact your guidance counselor. 


 

Psi Iota Xi Art Scholarship

For the purpose of stimulating art talent, the Alpha Phi Chapter of Psi Iota Xi Sorority is pleased to award a scholarship to an outstanding senior of Mt. Vernon High School.

Tri Kappa Hancock County Scholorship

Greenfield Upsilon Chapter of Tri Kappa, a service sorority, is seeking Hancock County applicants for local scholarships to be awarded for the 2026-2027 academic year. See below for application links and eligibility criteria.

A total of $5000 in scholarships will be awarded.

 Eligibilty criteria:

  1. Enrollment full time as a senior at one of four Hancock County high schools with plans to graduate in spring 2026
  2. US citizen and resident of Indiana within the jurisdiction of Greenfield Upsilon Chapter of Tri Kappa.

2025-2026 Optimist Oratorical Contest

Topic:  “The Moment I Realized I Belonged- My Definition of Community”

 Interested students should prepare a 4 to 5 minute speech on the assigned topic to be given Monday, February 23 at 6:00 PM at The McCordsville United Methodist Church.

Cash Prizes awarded by Mt Vernon Optimist Club ➢ First Place $300 ➢ Second Place $200 ➢ Third Place $100

Opportunity to move on and win further scholarships.

Applications for the Oratorical Contest are available here, at Mt. Vernon High School Library or www.mvoptimist.com. 

Completed Applications need to be turned in to Mrs. Zelencik at the Mt Vernon HS Library by February 13th at Noon.  Proof of date of birth is required to be turned in with the application.

2025-2026 Optimist International Essay Scholarship Contest

Official Topic:  “How My Acts of Service Help Me Understand What My Community Means to Me”

Compose a 700 - 800 word essay on this topic.  Contest is open to students under the age of 19 as of October 1, 2025.

Cash Prizes awarded by Mt Vernon Optimist Club • First Place $300 • Second Place $200 • Third Place $100

 The winner will advance to the district competition. The district winner will win a $2500 scholarship  Completed applications and Essays must be presented to Mrs. Zelenick by Noon on Friday, February 13, 2026.

2026 Indiana APWA Scholarship

The Indiana Chapter of the American Public Works Association would like to offer an opportunity to Indiana high school seniors to receive our 2026 annual scholarship.  The scholarship is awarded to a high school senior who would pursue a degree program in a public works related field.  Such fields would include Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Parks and Recreation, Municipal Planning, Public Administration Public Works/Municipal Operations and Fleet Management among others.  The degree may be through a university or technical school course of study. 

The scholarship awards $1000.00 annually for 4 years provided that the student demonstrates continued progress toward a public works field degree.  A paid annual membership to the American Public Works Association is included in the award.

2026 Tricoci High School Scholarship

  • Open to all high school seniors or early 2026 grads.  
  • One $3500 awarded to one person per TUBC campus
  • Applications accepted through March 31, 2026

McCordsville Police Department Scholarship

This scholarship is open to all current seniors or graduates of MVHS pursuing a degree in criminal justice/public safety.

The deadline for applications is March 20, 2026.


 

NineStar Scholarship

NineStar provides fifteen $2,000 scholarships annually to high school students in their service area.  The graduating senior must live in a NineStar-member household and also have a minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale at the time of application.

The application deadline is February 6, 2026 at 3:00pm.

Winners will be drawn at random following the deadline. 

 


Indiana Sheriff’s Association Scholarship Fund

This year, the association will be awarding forty (40) $1,000 scholarships to qualified students who are pursuing an education and career in the criminal justice field.

Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis Scholarship

This scholarship was created to encourage deserving students who have chosen building as their future vocation to continue in the field and to excel in their studies.

Indiana Senior Scholarship Program/Student-View Scholarship Program

The 2026 Student-View Scholarship Program is offering over $13,000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior college or career school.  All seniors who apply for the Student-View Scholarship will also be automatically entered into the drawing for the new $5009 Indiana Senior Scholarship.

Community Foundation of Hancock County Scholarships

The Community Foundation of Hancock County scholarships are now OPEN! 

The window is December 1st through February 6th.

Greenfield Area Soccer Club Scholarship

Greenfield Area Soccer Club has a scholarship available for graduating students of Hancock County who are presently a club member or have been in the past.  Student must put monies towards an education at a college/university, trade or technical school. Special consideration will go to applicants who participated in recreational soccer at GASC for a minimum of 2 years/4 seasons. Students may apply on their google form here.

The deadline to apply for this scholarship is April 1, 2026.

 


Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship

The Indiana Commission for Higher Education is currently accepting applications for the Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship, which provides up to $40,000 in financial aid to aspiring teachers. 

High-achieving high school and college students who plan to teach in Indiana for at least five years can receive up to $10,000 per year of college (up to $40,000 total) from the schoalrship.

Build A Better Future Scholarship

Ever wondered just how much of a difference high school students can make in their communities? Through our scholarship program, our past winners have proven it can be profound. That’s why our 2026 Build A Better Future scholarship will also be a design thinking community improvement project based on the LAUNCH Cycle. We will award $10,000 to five new seniors, with the top recipient receiving an additional $5,000 grant to continue funding their project.

Knights of Pythias of Indiana Scholarship

The Grand Lodge Knights of Pythias will be awarding 35 $1,000 scholarships to the class of 2026.

2026 Summit Salon Academy “Get Inspired” Scholarship

Students who plan to attend Summit Salon Academy may apply for this scholarship which is based on a student’s goals regarding the beauty industry as well as personal references, character, and integrity.

Voice of Democracy Scholarship

Established in 1947, our Voice of Democracy® audio-essay program provides high school students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay.  Each year, more than 26,400 ninth through 12th grade students from across the country enter to win their share of more than $1.4 million in educational scholarships and incentives awarded through the program. 

The national first place winner receives a $35,000 scholarship paid directly to the recipient’s American university, college or vocational/technical school.

Louie's Tux Shop Model Search Scholarship

Louie's Tux Shop will be sponsoring their 12th annual statewide Model Search this fall.  They bring together a local cast comprising of twenty (20) students and at the completion of the shoot, two students will receive a $1,000.00 college scholarship.  Ten students will be chosen by their peers along with another 10 students that will be chosen by a selection committee.  All photo shoot participants will be featured in our prom promotions in the spring and all students have an equal chance at winning scholarships.

Nancy Jaynes Memorial Scholarship

Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust, Inc. is currently accepting applications for the Nancy Jaynes Memorial Scholarship.  The scholarship of up to $2,500 for college or post-secondary technical schooling is awarded to an Indiana High School Senior(s) whose parent is battling breast cancer or who has lost a parent to breast cancer.
