Mt. Vernon High School (MVHS) has had numerous accomplishments and awards that showcase a few of many successes, both academically and through extra-curricular activities.  Here are just a few of the most recent acknowledgments:

• Indiana Department of Education rated MVHS an "A" school 7 times since 2012 

• Indiana Department of Education rated MVHS a Four Star School 7 times since 2012

• One of the first high schools in the country to have a 3D printer and is currently the only high school  in the country to have an Elumen’s Vision Dome  

• High-Tech Academy offers state-of-the-art television studio and Computer Animated Design  courses  

• Each student has their own Chromebook  

• Graduation rate: 2020-2021 - 99%  

• Percentage of class earning academic honors diploma – 2021- 41% 

• Top 100 Schools for FAFSA completion – 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017 

• 68.7% of total AP students achieved a 3 or higher on at least one AP exam - 2020 

• Recognized as a "College Success Award" Winners from the GreatSchools Organization – 2021, 2020, 2018

2019-2020 attendance rate - 96% 

• Offering Aerospace programming, including up to 20 Ivy Tech credit hours towards their aviation  programming that could lead to a pilot's license 

• Offers a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course where students can graduate with their CNA  certificate - in 2021 all students achieved their CNA certification.

• Awarded a GenerationOn School - 2017 

• Certified as a Common Sense Media School - 2017 

• Offers 12 Advanced Placement (AP) courses  

• Offers 16 dual credit courses  

• Offers 3 Advanced College Project (ACP) courses  

• 2021 seniors earned over $4,000,000 in scholarships  

• Band state qualifier – 2019, 2018

• ISHDTA state dance champion in pom - 2019, 2018 

•  19 IHSAA varsity sports offered as well as cheerleading

• 6 fine arts opportunities in choral and instrumental  

• 9 academic competitions including fine arts, math, science  

• Over 60 (Non-Athletic) clubs/organizations including National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, FFA, and FACS

Overall, varsity sports won 77% of their contests across the board, with most sports facing a top 25-ranked schedule.
